To children all over the world, The Wind in the Willows has been for over a hundred years now a book about friendship. It falls under the same category as Stalky & Co. (Rudyard Kipling) and Winnie the Pooh (A. A. Milne), among others—many others. It shapes the character of young readers.
In addition to that, for most children growing up under communism, Mole, Rat, Badger, Otter and Toad were more than funny characters who taught moral values. They were five friends who TRUSTED EACH OTHER. Young readers in communist Romania were besieged by the violence of a lying ideology. They had to defend themselves as best they could. Grahame's book gave them the courage to go on.
We are publishing this story of true friendship now, in 2015, as a "Grownup Book for Children", hoping to revive its core of human solidarity. Alone in front of their computers, the children of the third millennium play violent games, watch equally violent and cruel cartoons, but long for a world of friendship and trust. This is a Dickensian Christmas Carol brought by Contemporary Literature Press to the door of all our readers: Merry Christmas and "God bless us every one!"

Pentru copiii din lumea întreagă, Vântul prin sălcii este de peste o sută de ani o carte despre prietenie. Ea face parte din aceeași categorie cu Stalky & Co. (Rudyard Kipling) și Winnie the Pooh (A. A. Milne), printre multe, foarte multe alte cărți de acest gen. Este un roman care modelează caracterul tinerilor cititori.
Pentru copiii care creșteau în comunism, însă, Cârtiță, Șobolănel, Bursucul, Vidra și Broscoiul au fost mai mult decât simple personaje amuzante care propovăduiau valori morale. Acești cinci prieteni NU SE ÎNDOIAU UNUL DE CELĂLALT. Tinerii cititori din România comunistă erau înconjurați de o violentă ideologie a minciunii. Trebuiau să se apere de ea. Cartea lui Kenneth Grahame le–a insuflat curajul că vor reuși.
Publicăm acum, la sfârșitul anului 2015, această poveste despre prietenie, în seria "Grownup Books for Children", în dorința de a vorbi prin ea noii generații despre solidaritatea umană. Singur în fața computerului, adolescentul mileniului III joacă jocuri ori se uită la desene animate—ambele marcate profund de violență. În tot aceste timp, el caută de fapt prietenia și încrederea.
