The publishing house which has recently been awarded "The Prize for the Publishing House of the year 2020" by the Romanian Association of Literary Publications and Publishing Houses and by the Romanian Ministry of Culture, began quite shyly, in my own study. A computer, the internet and the MA Programme for the Translation of Contemporary Literature [which I founded in 2006]—a programme that may have taught me more than I have taught my graduate students.
Twelve years after that beginning, here we are, with almost 500 books published, out of which 130 are cutting edge research [A Manual for the Advanced Study of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake], and seven are dedicated to my method of teaching English grammar to Romanian students by means of translation.
The books we have published total thousands of downloads, despite the fact that certain internet sites appropriate our books and spread them in their name, preventing us from seeing the real number of readers on our meters. We pretend not to see this intellectual theft, because we are totally non–profit, and are happy just to see our books are being read. When we launch a book, we try to be of use to our readers.
All our books can be downloaded for free. Our first aim is to help all those who wish to learn English and read English books. Besides this didactic goal, we also have a cultural one: we are trying to build a bridge between contemporary Romanian and English writers. We seem to have reached quite a large audience, and we mean to go on spreading Romanian and British literature in the world.
We are now publishing the list of Authors and Books published by Contemporary Literature Press in hopes that more readers will approach us. We are grateful to all those readers who have been faithful to us for twelve years now.

Editura care de curând a luat „Premiul Editura anului 2020” la Gala Premiilor APLER [Asociația Publicațiilor Literare și Editurilor din România, cu sprijinul financiar al Ministerului Culturii, dar și al Directorului Muzeului Național al Literaturii Române, Ioan Cristescu], a început foarte modest, în biroul meu de acasă. Un computer, internetul, și MTTLC—un program masteral de la care am învățat, cred, mai mult decât i–am învățat eu pe masteranzi.
La 12 ani de atunci, ne apropiem de 500 de volume, dintre care 130 sunt cercetare științifică de vârf [A Manual for the Advanced Study of James Joyce's Finnegans Wake] și o metodă în șapte volume de predare a limbii engleze prin traducere gramaticală studenților români.
Volumele editurii Contemporary Literature Press au zeci de mii de descărcări, în ciuda faptului că motoarele de căutare de pe internet își însușesc volumele noastre și maschează în acest fel adevăratul număr al celor care ne citesc. Atâta vreme cât cărțile sunt citite, tolerăm acest furt intelectual, pentru că noi suntem o editură total non–profit, și, când lansăm o carte, nu ne dorim decât ca ea să fie de folos cât mai multor cititori.
Descărcarea volumelor noastre este gratuită. Dorința noastră este să ajutăm pe toți cei care vor să învețe limba engleză și să se apropie de literatura acestei limbi. Dar, pe lângă scopul nostru didactic, avem și unul cultural: ne–am propus să fim o punte între scriitorii contemporani români și cei de limbă engleză. Cred că ne–am făcut cunoscuți, și cu siguranță vom continua să traducem și să răspândim opere literare românești și britanice. Contemporane, dar nu numai.
Lansăm acum catalogul volumelor CLP, în speranța că vor veni către noi mereu mai mulți cititori. Nu există răsplată mai de dorit pentru o carte de literatură decât iubirea pentru lumina scrisului, pe care, sperăm noi, o descoperă toți cei care ne citesc, și cărora le mulțumim că sunt cu noi de 12 ani.
